The next call for entries opens in November 2026. You can then submit your posters here.

How the Anfachen Award works

Every year there is one theme. Designers from all over the world submit posters on it: photographic, painted, graphic or typographic. You are free to approach the theme from any point of view.

An international jury selects the 25 best posters anonymously. They are first shown for three weeks in the streets of Hamburg and then travel on to other cities and countries.

Key rules

  • Format A0, portrait
  • up to 3 posters per person
  • files as JPG, PDF or TIFF, max. 4 MB each
  • no name on the poster – the jury decides anonymously
  • if your poster contains text: one German and one English version

Theme, deadline and entry fee are published with the call for entries, together with the full terms of participation to download.

Rights

By submitting, you agree to the following:

a) The submitted motifs may be published worldwide and without time limit in print and electronic media and shown in exhibitions in public space as well as in galleries and museums.

b) You grant the Anfachen Award the simple right of use to reproduce, distribute and make the motifs publicly available, and to exhibit them. The Anfachen Award may transfer these rights to third parties and use the motifs to finance the award, for example as posters or postcards.

c) You guarantee that your work (text and image) is free of third-party rights and indemnify the Anfachen Award against third-party claims.

You keep the copyright to your work.

The Anfachen Award is independent. It lives from people who make it possible. Your donation brings art about social questions to where everyone can see it: the street. Anfachen gGmbH is a non-profit – you receive a donation receipt.
